Description
Port Cap System with 4 Liter Safety Coated Amber Glass Bottle, GL38 Port Cap and Secondary Container: Choose Number of Ports
This complete port cap system includes a 4 liter safety coated amber glass bottle, a GL38 port cap with your choice of 2, 3 or 4 ports, plugs, and a secondary container with footed base. Choose the number of ports, optional tubing adapters and venting from the drop-down menu.
Port cap closed systems are ideal for the safe delivery of solvents to laboratory equipment such as HPLC and LC-MS systems, and may also be used for closed-system waste collection. A typical closed system uses one or more bottles to feed chemicals into equipment, with a separate waste container collecting spent solvent. Closed systems help prevent chemical evaporation from open containers, reducing hazards to employees and the environment.
Specifications:
- Safety coated amber glass 4 liter (135 oz) jug, EC-38GLSC
- Choose 2, 3 or 4 Type A (1/4-28 UNF) female threaded ports
- PTFE insert with polypropylene spin collar
- Includes plugs for unused ports
- Secondary container SC-3004CPB with footed base
Designed for GL38 Glass Bottles
The included port cap fits the GL38 glass thread used on 4-liter and 2-liter amber glass solvent bottles. GL38 glass bottle closures and 38-430 plastic bottle closures share a nominal 38 mm diameter but are not interchangeable; replacement caps must match the GL38 thread.
Port Cap and Tubing Connections
Port caps permit multiple lines of varying size and type to be connected to the container with an air-tight seal. The 1/4-28 UNF threaded ports sit in a PTFE insert (wetted) with a tapered sealing surface suitable for use under moderate vacuum or pressure, inside a non-wetted polypropylene spin collar. Each 1/4-28 port has a through-hole for 1/8" OD tubing; push tubing through the cap to supply your system. Plugs are included for all unused ports to maintain a closed system.
Bottle Specifications
- Amber soda-lime glass conforms to USP Type III requirements
- 158 mm diameter x 340 mm high (6.2" x 13.4")
- Approx. 1/4" bottom thickness
- Amber glass protects light-sensitive contents
- Black phenolic ribbed cap, PTFE-lined, for storage
- Shoulder handle for ease of use
Secondary Containment
Each system includes a compliant secondary container to capture leaks and spills and help meet laboratory chemical storage requirements.
Important: Chemical compatibility depends on the solvent, concentration, temperature and all wetted components, including the PTFE insert, plugs and any adapters used. Verify compatibility before use.
Applications
- HPLC and UHPLC mobile phase delivery
- LC-MS solvent reservoir connections
- Closed-system waste collection
- Safe storage and transfer of laboratory solvents
System Components:
| EC-38GLSC | Safety coated amber glass 4 liter jug |
| WF-GL38-2KIT, WF-GL38-3KIT or WF-GL38-4KIT | GL38 port cap kit with plugs (based on number of ports selected) |
| SC-3004CPB | Secondary container with footed base |
Configure your system from the drop-down menus:
| Option | Choices |
| Number of Ports | 2, 3 or 4 Type A (1/4-28 UNF) ports |
| Adapters for 1/4-28 Ports | None; 1/16" OD tubing adapters WF-AQ-1-16 (10pk); or 1/8" OD tubing adapters WF-AQ-1-8 (10pk) |
| Venting | None; Air Inlet Valve WF-PR-115 for solvent delivery (lets air in to prevent implosion as fluid leaves the bottle); or Pressure Relief Valve WF-PR-118 for solvent collection (vents as fluid displaces air in the bottle) |
Not every combination is available for every system; available choices are shown in the drop-down menus.
Please note: it is not possible to ground glass bottles, plastic bottles and carboys (non-Justrite® containers); this may result in a safety hazard with flammable solvents.
