Phenylbutazone is also known as Bute and is primarily used in animals as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug for treating fever and pain. It is most commonly administered to horses for analgesia and antipyresis. It is sometimes used for treating dogs with chronic pain that can be caused by osteoarthritis.
