Cleaning and Sterilization:

• Initial cleaning: rinse thoroughly inside and out with deionized water (DIW); for a more thorough clean, immerse in a 1% mild alkaline detergent solution (such as Micro 90) heated to 100°C, then cool and rinse well with DIW
• Do not clean with brushes or abrasives; scratches trap metals and organic contaminants and prevent effective cleaning
• For ultratrace sample digestion work, wipe gently to remove residue, leach in hot 6M HNO₃ (about 100°C) in a Savillex vial cleaning system, and rinse thoroughly with DIW
• Sterilize by autoclave at 121°C for 90 minutes with the closure removed; PFA can be sterilized by all routine methods except gamma radiation and e-beam
