Description
Safe and Secure Solvent Delivery: GL38 Glass Bottle Safety Port Cap Bundle Includes Built-In Check Valve, Plugs and 1/8" OD Adapters
Convenient port cap kits can be ordered with 2, 3 or 4 ports and your choice of valve material. They include a built-in one-way air valve plus all required plugs and adapters to get started.
Volatile organic solvents are essential for many lab instruments, including HPLC, LC-MS, FPLC, and SFC. However, their use poses significant health and safety risks. Our Solvent Extraction and Delivery Caps provide a dynamic, closed-system solution to safely manage these chemicals. Choose adapters based on your preferred tubing size. A set of plugs is included in our kits to maintain a closed system when holes are not in use.
Specifications:
- Fits glass solvent bottles with a GL38 (38 mm) threaded closure
- Choose 2, 3 or 4 Type A (1/4-28 UNF) female threaded ports
- PTFE insert for maximum chemical compatibility
- Polypropylene outer spin collar prevents tubing from tangling
- All fittings included with cap bundles are sized for 1/8" OD tubing; other size tubing adapters can be ordered separately.
- Includes built-in one-way PEEK & SS316 check valve to reduce solvent evaporation and prevent implosion (three elastomer seal options)
Designed for GL38 Glass Solvent Bottles
The GL38 glass thread is commonly used for 4-liter glass solvent bottles supplied by laboratory chemical manufacturers. These bottles are widely used for storing and delivering solvents, reagents and mobile phases in analytical chemistry and chromatography laboratories.
Although GL38 glass bottle closures and 38-430 plastic bottle closures share a nominal 38 mm diameter, their thread profiles and dimensions differ. The GL38 glass thread has a different closure geometry and is not interchangeable with the 38-430 thread finish used on many plastic laboratory bottles.
This port cap is specifically designed for GL38 threaded glass solvent bottles and should not be used with Nalgene® 38-430 plastic bottles, GL45 media bottles or other incompatible closure types. Verify bottle thread compatibility before installation.
PTFE Insert and Secure Tubing Connections
Our solvent delivery port caps are designed for active systems that continuously pump solvents from a reservoir to laboratory instruments. The chemically resistant PTFE insert features 1/4-28 UNF threaded ports with tapered sealing surfaces suitable for moderate vacuum or pressure applications.
Each port accommodates tubing through a 1/8" OD opening machined at a 15-degree angle. The polypropylene outer spin collar rotates independently of the PTFE insert, helping prevent tubing from twisting or becoming damaged when the cap is installed or removed.
Unused ports can be sealed with the included plugs. For applications requiring different tubing diameters or permanently integrated solvent pickup tubing, additional configurations are available.
Built-In Air Inlet Valve for Safer Solvent Delivery
Our GL38 Solvent Delivery Port Caps are available with 2, 3, or 4 tubing ports and your choice of FFKM, FKM, or EPDM valve seal materials to accommodate different laboratory applications and solvent compatibility requirements. Each cap features an integrated one-way air inlet valve constructed with PEEK and 316 stainless steel components. As solvent is pumped from the bottle, the valve admits replacement air to help prevent excessive vacuum buildup and potential container damage while minimizing solvent evaporation and vapor emissions.
The valves help minimize solvent vapor escape and evaporation when compared with open or vented solvent reservoirs. A replaceable particulate filter helps prevent airborne contaminants from entering the solvent supply.
Important: Chemical compatibility depends on the solvent, concentration, temperature and all wetted components, including the selected FFKM, FKM or EPDM valve seal. Verify compatibility before use.
Applications
- HPLC and UHPLC mobile phase delivery
- LC-MS solvent reservoir connections
- FPLC and SFC solvent supply systems
- Laboratory reagent and solvent transfer
- Closed-system solvent delivery from GL38 glass solvent bottles
The GL38 Solvent Delivery Port Cap provides a convenient solution for laboratories seeking to reduce solvent evaporation, maintain cleaner solvent delivery systems and improve chemical handling practices.

Built-in air valve for safety and efficiency
This Port Cap includes built-in one-way PEEK & SS316 check valve to reduce solvent evaporation. Choose from three elastomer seal options depending on your solvent. Clean air enters through one-way check valve to prevent implosion during the solvent delivery process, but solvent cannot evaporate out of the closed solvent feed system.

Note on chemical compatibility: This information has been compiled from multiple sources and is intended as a general reference only. It is the responsibility of the user to verify the suitability of materials and solvents for their specific application. Data assumes room temperature use. 50μm Polyethylene particulate filters have been color-coded to denote the valve seal material. Filters are not intended for submersion in solvent.
Diagram of a solvent delivery cap (right)
- Solvent is fed to the laboratory instrument through tubing
- Tubing adapter fitting securely attaches the tube to the cap and container
- Particulate filter, color-coded to indicate the inner seal color and threaded for easy replacement
- One-way PEEK and 316 Stainless Steel check valve reduces solvent evaporation, with three elastomer seal options for various compatibility options
- Chemically-resistant PTFE insert is exposed to contents and ensures compatibility with a wide range of lab solvents
- Polypropylene spin collar is not exposed to contents. It rotates independently, protecting tubing from twisting or damage when cap is unscrewed
- Clean air enters through one-way check valve to displace solvent as it flows into HPLC or LC-MS machine
Note on grounding containers: For labs which do not need to use groundable safety containers, we offer these port caps to adapt to standard drum and pail closures, as well as Nalgene® 83B, 53B, and 100-415 carboys. PLEASE NOTE THAT IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO GROUND DRUM, PAIL, GLASS BOTTLE AND CARBOY (NON-JUSTRITE®) CONTAINERS; THIS MAY RESULT IN A SAFETY HAZARD WITH FLAMMABLE SOLVENTS.
PROP 65 WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including Tetrafluoroethylene PTFE, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer.
